Harrell, Baugh awarded Graduate Study Merit scholarships from AUM Alumni Association
Drew Harrell of Hayneville, Ala., and Stephen Baugh of Hazel Green, Ala., have each been awarded Graduate Study Merit scholarships from the Auburn Montgomery Alumni Association.
The awards are for $1,000 each – $500 each for the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters.

Harrell received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Huntingdon College in May 2011. He plans to pursue an M.B.A. at Auburn Montgomery. While at Huntingdon, he received the Alabama Society of CPAs Scholarship for 2010, was vice president of the Accounting Club and served as a Huntingdon Ambassador.
Harrell was also a two-sport athlete for the Hawks, playing baseball and football, and was named the school’s Male Athlete of the Year for 2011. He served as the football team’s captain in 2010 and the baseball team’s captain in 2011. In baseball, he was named All-Great South Athletic Conference and to the American Baseball Coaches Association’s All-South Region Team in 2011. In football, he was named to the National Football Foundation’s Hampshire Honor Society as a senior, indicative of maintenance of a grade-point average of 3.2 or better for his entre collegiate career.
Harrell works as an executive assistant and strategic operations coordinator at the Business Council of Alabama and also helps coach the Lowndes Academy football team. He is a 2007 graduate of Lowndes Academy in Lowndesboro and the son of Sandy and Leanne Harrell of Hayneville.

Baugh received his bachelor’s degree in history from Auburn University, where he graduated summa cum laude in May of 2011. He plans to pursue a master’s in secondary social science education at Auburn Montgomery. While at Auburn, he was inducted into the prestigious Phi Kappa Phi honor society and Phi Alpha Theta, the international honor society for history. He was also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and was named Auburn University’s distinguished history student.
Baugh served as a student manager for the Auburn University basketball team from August 2007 until May 2011. He also worked for Kelly Educational Services and was a substitute teacher for Auburn City Schools. This summer, Baugh is serving as a camp counselor for disabled students from the City of Auburn.
Baugh is a 2007 graduate of Hazel Green High School. He is the son of Johnny Baugh of Hazel Green and Michelle Knowles of Fayetteville, Tenn.
