Schools of Nursing to host 11th annual Blue Jean Ball with Coach Dye Oct. 14
It’s time to shine your boots and get ready to scoot over to Notasulga for the 11th annual Blue Jean Ball on Oct. 14 at former Auburn University football coach Pat Dye’s hunting lodge. Proceeds from the event are used to support scholarships, programming and faculty of the Auburn University and Auburn Montgomery Schools of Nursing. more

Public Safety conducting mandatory training to help keep violence out of the workplace
The AUM Department of Public Safety will conduct the campus-wide training series "Maintaining a Violence-Free Workplace" on several dates throughout fall semester. This training is mandatory for all faculty and staff. The intent of this training is to establish awareness, increase assessment skills and provide information that will aid you in the recognition of, response to and recovery from potential workplace violence incidents. This training will equip and prepare all AUM employees to work together to create and maintain a workplace that is as free as possible from harassing and threatening behaviors. Dates, times and locations are listed below. Indicate your preference by e-mailing Pam McNeil at pmcneil@aum.edu. If you supervise employees who do not have regular access to a computer, make them aware of this training and send the dates each employee will participate in the training to McNeil. All training sessions will be held in Goodwyn Hall 112.

Diversity offering shuttle service to statewide higher ed conference in November
The fifth annual statewide Higher Education Diversity Enhancement Conference will be held on Monday, Nov. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the University of Alabama. Registration is free, but space is limited. The Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs will offer shuttle service to and from the conference. To reserve your seat on the shuttle, contact Virginia Dorsey at vdorsey@aum.edu no later than Oct. 14.

Support AUM Athletics by eating at Moe's Wednesday
Support AUM Athletics by eating at Moe’s Southwest Grill the first Wednesday of each month. Be sure to take an AUM/Moe’s coupon and AUM will receive 20 percent of your purchase receipt. You must present a coupon to the cashier in order for AUM to receive the donation. Coupons can be picked up at Physical Education Complex 100, or you can print one.

Retirees headed back to AUM for reunion Oct. 11
The annual AUM Retirees Reunion will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Center for Lifelong Learning at 75 TechnaCenter Drive. All faculty and staff are invited to "welcome back" retirees at a reception from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Refreshments will be served.

Association of Nursing Students to hold diaper drive
The AUM Association of Nursing Students is collecting donations for the Gift of Life Foundation with a diaper drive. The Montgomery-based organization provides perinatal services and education for pregnant women and their babies. Diapers of all sizes can be donated Oct. 3 through Nov. 18 in boxes placed in Moore Hall and the Goodwyn Hall lobby. For more information, contact Pat Swayne at 334-328-6293.

Campus ministry bake sale to benefit local charities
Campus ministry group S.A.L.T. (Saints all Living Triumphantly) will hold a bake sale once monthly for the next several months to raise money for donations to local charitable organizations. Support those in need in your community while satisfying your sweet tooth on Oct. 3, Nov. 7 and Dec. 5, noon to 2:30 p.m., in front of Goodwyn Hall. Honors Program presenting showing of 'Young Frankenstein' Friday
The University Honors Program will host the Mel Brooks classic "Young Frankenstein" at the Capri Theatre, 1045 East Fairview Ave., on Friday at 7:30 p.m. This event is part of a service project by Honors communications students to help shine a spotlight on the Honors program. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. more

Warhawks women's tennis sweeps singles and doubles at ITA Regionals
Senior Ana Veselinovic did not drop a set en route to the singles championship and teamed with sophomore Jade Curtis to win the doubles championship at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships hosted by SCAD-Atlanta at the Bitsy Grant Tennis Center. more

Chris Ross, a senior defender from Melbourne, Australia, majoring in exercise science, was named the Southern States Athletic Conference's Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 19. Ross anchored the Warhawks' defensive unit, which allowed just two goals and 12 shots during the week in two matches. Highlighting the week for Ross was a two-goal performance against Southern Wesleyan. He also added an assist in the contest against the Warriors. Ross is one of just three AUM players to start all eight matches, and he is a team captain.
Sam Wallace, instructor in Communication and Dramatic Arts, was part of the cast of "Juliette's Journey," a new one-act play by Julia Oliver about the life of Juliette Hampton Morgan. A staged reading of this play was performed on Sept. 25 at Huntingdon College under the sponsorship of the Cloverdale Playhouse and thanks to grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the Alabama Humanities Foundation. Wallace was also part of the Cloverdale Playhouse's Heroes Among Us project, commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11 at the train shed downtown.
