AUM Sustainability Committee shines 'Green Spotlight' on Lockette
Auburn Montgomery’s Sustainability Committee is thanking those individuals who, through their actions and initiatives, demonstrate leadership in making AUM a more responsible corporate citizen. The committee is shining its first "Green Spotlight" on Buffy Lockette.
Lockette is the external communications manager in the Office of University Relations. Before AUM started a pilot recycling program this semester, she saw the need for plastic bottle and aluminum can recycling in her department. She encouraged her co-workers to recycle beverage containers in a cardboard box she placed in their break room and then took the bottles and cans to the city’s collection bins located across the street from the AUM baseball fields.
Lockette is pleased that AUM now has recycling containers in each building. She also initiated paper, newspaper and magazine recycling by placing a box near the central printer. She empties the box into the Mount Scrap paper recycling container on the loading dock in the Administration building.
Know someone in your department who is helping AUM go green? Contact Delia Sescioreanu at 244-3605 or dsescior@aum.edu to let the Sustainability Committee know.
