H1N1 clinic well attended, additional injectables are in
One hundred ninety-one Auburn Montgomery students, faculty and staff received either the H1N1 FluMist nasal or injectable vaccine at a clinic Wednesday in the Taylor Center.
“The clinic yesterday was well attended,” said Carol Stewart, director of Student Health Services. “We appreciate the help and participation from the Auburn University School of Pharmacy for assisting us with screening and administration.”
One hundred four students and 87 faculty and staff received vaccinations.
If you missed the clinic, it’s not too late to get vaccinated. Faculty, staff, students and dependents may receive the mist or injection beginning Friday from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. until supplies run out.
Stewart asks for patience when coming to receive the vaccinations due to a shortage of help in the Nursing Care Center. Wednesday they had help from Auburn, but will not have additional help in the coming days.
Pregnant women who plan to receive the H1N1 vaccine at the clinic must bring written documentation from their healthcare provider stating they can get the vaccine.
The following groups are highly encouraged to receive the vaccine: pregnant women, persons with long-term health problems, caregivers of children ages 6 months to 2 years, individuals aged 25 years and younger and healthcare workers. The vaccinations are free.
