Mathematics offering presentations on cryptology and robotics
These aren't your ordinary math lectures.
The Department of Mathematics will host events on the next two Fridays, one on cryptology, the science of code and cipher systems that organizations use to keep information secure, and one on robotics.
Friday, Oct. 16, 11 a.m. - noon, Goodwyn Hall 318
Dr. Pante Stanica of the Applied Mathematics Department at the Naval Postgraduate School, and former AUM faculty member, will be speaking on cryptology. He will define a few encryption and decryption mathematical algorithms based on number-theoretic concepts and display a few applications of cryptography.
Friday, Oct. 23, 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., Goodwyn Hall 202
The AUM Engineering Club will host the demonstration “Robotics on the Move” with Professor Thad Roppel of the Auburn University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and several of his students, including Mason Nixon, a former AUM Pre-Engineering student and president of the AUM Engineering Club.
