Got an AUMazing idea? Come share it

Throughout October, Auburn Montgomery is inviting the campus community to think creatively about AUM’s future.

Called “Building Our AUMazing Future,” the series is intended to tap into the vision that faculty members, staff and students have for AUM – all the ways they believe the university can grow and become an even stronger institution, said Susan Salter, director of University Relations.

The series will be led by Lynn Beshear, executive director of Envision 2020, who has led similar visioning events for the City of Montgomery, First United Methodist Church and others.

“The purpose of these meetings is to get ideas about very specific aspects of implementing the strategic plan for the future of AUM,” Beshear said. “All the ideas are important and the results of your work will be incorporated into the action plans – both for the immediate and long-term futures.”

The events will be structured as brainstorming sessions, with attendees taking time to think about specific questions independently and then sharing them at their tables. At the end of each meeting, each group will share ideas generated at the table discussions.

Among the issues to be addressed are:

  • How can we expand our recruiting efforts?
  • How can we make AUM even more attractive to future students?
  • How can we expand academic offerings?
  • What would make AUM an even better place to go to college and to work?

Each session will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. and participants are invited to bring a brown bag lunch.

Participants can attend as many sessions as they wish. The sessions are set for:

  • Oct. 6 – Taylor Center 230
  • Oct. 12 – Taylor Center 222 and 223
  • Oct. 13 – Taylor Center 222 and 223
  • Oct. 21 – Taylor Center 221-223
